On Rogation Sunday, May 23rd 2021, and organised and led by Gill Butterworth, a group of Hadstock residents ‘beat the bounds’ and walked 7.5 miles round the Parish boundary as part of the 1020-2020 Millennium celebrations. Starting on Linton Road near the zoo, the group walked anticlockwise, had a lunch break in Nunn Wood, and finished in the Grip at Linton.
What a good turnout. 10 years ago Hamish organised a similar walk but only 5 people including him turned up. I’m afraid I can’t remember the names of the other two, one of whom did the first half and then met us at the King’s Head at the end. My husband, Alan, and I were visiting my mother, Rosamond Hudson, at the time and took the opportunity to see some paths we had not walked before. I have a few photos of the event if you would like them.
We would be pleased to create a post on the bounds walk 10 years ago. Please email me to arrange sending of the photos (see Hadstock Society, main Hadstock website for email address.
Thanks, Richard Dolby
